Hyderabad based, Backstage Pass, a professional finishing school for a career in game development, has successfully placed most of its student in various gaming studios across India. Backstage Pass is also planning to start a 6 month program in Game Programming for mobile games. The next Diploma batch is starting in May 2012, and the admissions are in progress.

At present total of about 50 students are studying in BSP, out of which 9 students have passed out. Students who have passed out are placed in Blue Giant Interactive (Hyderabad), Robosoft (Mangalore), Pixelsutra (Hyderabad) and various others. They have been quite successful in placing most of their students due to constant building of association with game companies in India to ensure placements to students.

 The goal of Backstage Pass is to find placements for their students in different game companies in India, as Game Programmers, Game Designers, IOS Game Programmers and Game Artists.

Talking to GamingXpress.com Surya.P, Managing Director Backstage Pass shared, “We have learnt from our experience that there is a lot of talent in India, and most of the young generation play games and also want to make a career in games. We have been working on admitting students from all over India with different culture, ideas, talent; which will help every student to interact and learn from each other. We are also working on welcoming the International students from the next academic year onwards. We are starting Diploma batches every 3 months to cater to the growing demand for game developers in India.”

The focus of Backstage Pass has always been a mentor based approach where students are taught in a production based environment. They nurture student’s ability to learn, design and create games. All the mentors who teach gaming at Backstage Pass are experienced professionals who have been working in the game companies. “This kind of approach helps the students to get connected to the Industry professionals, which in turn can be helpful in finding placement opportunities”, Surya added.

Backstage Pass offer both 4 year Degree and 1 year Diploma programs focused only in Game Development. The degree programs are offered in collaboration with ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture & Fine Arts University’.
