Yahoo! has appointed Singapore-based Matchmove Games as its exclusive casual games provider for Yahoo! Games sites in Southeast Asia.

Under the partnership, users who click from the Yahoo! Games site on any of the six Yahoo! country front pages, as well as Yahoo! Asia, will link to the co-branded Yahoo! and Matchmove Games site. From there, users can choose from hundreds of the world's most popular online game titles to play on the site or download, including games from renowned publishers including PopCap Games, Alawar Entertainment and Playrix Entertainment.

Talking to GamingXpress, Miguel Bernas, Chief Marketing Officer, “The users will be able to choose from our available titles, and will also be able to play the free web versions that some of our titles have. In essence, we are replacing the old Yahoo! Games page in Southeast Asia. Our target markets are Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, which include some of the fastest growing markets in terms of internet penetration. Matchmove Games' current site is in English but plans to introduce local language versions of the site (as well as local language game content) in the coming months.”

"Casual and social games attract a very wide audience, especially adults in their 20s to late 30s. We are offering game developers, publishers and advertisers the opportunity to reach this massive audience through just one platform: Matchmove Games," said Shailesh Naik, CEO of Matchmove Games. "We believe there is a fantastic opportunity in the casual and social gaming industry, especially by partnering with Yahoo!"

"Online gaming is a huge on-ramp for consumers to the internet and we are happy to be able to provide millions of our users with compelling experiences as they come to Yahoo! every day," says Ken Mandel, Vice President and Managing Director, Yahoo! Southeast Asia. "We're very impressed with Matchmove Games' capabilities, the unique experience their site will offer Yahoo! users and their great catalogue of game titles."

"The online game audience in Southeast Asia is simply massive. Yahoo! has long been one of the major players globally and in the region, attracting millions to Yahoo! Games. By offering an even wider range of game titles, as well as the ability to purchase games in local currency through a variety of locally-based payment solutions, we aim to dramatically grow this audience." Added Naik.
