2010-09-14 08:55 by Gaming Xpress Team

80 developers + 32 hours = endless new HTML5 games. SPIL GAMES and Google are hosting an HTML5 Game Jam in Hilversum, the Netherlands on the weekend of October 9-10, 2010. The HTML5 Game Jam will give developers the chance to share best practices and create games in a fun environment.

The event will take place at SPIL GAMES' headquarters. It is primarily a hacking event, running from Saturday 10:00 am to Sunday 6:00 pm. It will kick off with short talks on the technology, followed by pitches from anyone with ideas for great games. Then it will be coding all day, with short presentations at the day's end. There will be chill-out areas with games and diversions, food to fuel the most dedicated hackers, prizes, and a few surprises along the way.

"This game jam is the latest development in our HTML5 strategy, and we're thrilled to work with Google on this," said Peter Driessen, CEO of SPIL GAMES. "An open, free weekend of hardcore coding fits perfectly in our strategy to unite the world in play, and we can't wait to see what comes out of the weekend."
