NASSCOM has announced the program line up for the annual NASSCOM Animation and
Gaming Summit to be held this year on 12th & 13th Nov at HICC, Hotel
Novotel. The Game Developers
Summit will be on both days this year.
This year NASSCOM GDS 2010 will be kicked off by Industry experts in the form of a key note panel. The key note panel titled “Game Development in India – The Journey so far”. The panelists for the session are:
- Manvendra Shukul, CEO, Lakshya Digital
- Imran Khan, Studio Head, Griptonite India (A Foundation 9 company, formerly FX Labs);
- Jugul Thachery, Founder&MD, ChaYoWo Games
- Hrishi Oberoi, Director, IG Studios (Indiagames)
The session will be moderated by Rajesh Rao, Founder and CEO, Dhruva Interactive. The Game Developers Summit will be spanning for a day and half this year as the keynote panel will be on Day 1 i.e 12th November 2010 at 2 PM.
Gamingxpress.com spoke to Rajesh Rao, Co-Chairman of NASSCOM Animation and Gaming Forum (NAGFO) as he said, "The rapid growth of the Nasscom Game Developer Summit as a number one platform for Game Developers in India is fully attributed to the collective effort of the industry. Last year we had our fingers crossed when we did the first edition, it was a one day event, and it turned out to be a phenomenal success with developers from over 15 studios attending. This year we had so many developers submitting really great talks from which we had to shortlist, so the event has grown to a 2 day event."
He further added by saying, "When we started out last year, we had envisioned the conference to be ‘For the Developers, By the Developers’ and I am glad that GDS has turned out exactly that way, supported by all the major companies in India, be it local or multinational. Most studios are sending participants to the conference, which will enable the creation and nurturing of a ‘game developer fraternity’ which shares knowledge and ideas. This is especially important in a country where we need to accelerate the process of maturing our developer pool, to respond to the huge market opportunities emerging in India and abroad."
The NASSCOM Game Developer Summit 2010 will focus on Social Gaming. If people are spending more and more time on social networks, it makes great business sense to monetize the traffic passing through them by having enough gaming content sitting on these sites. It has opened up another relatively larger window for social networking sites that had just advertising dollars to bank on so far. This also opens doors for developers to develop games for such a dynamic platform. More than 20 sessions will address the most pressing development challenges for games. In addition the Summit will also feature Gaming Lounge and Game trailers by Studios.
'We are also very proud of the inclusive and collaborative approach adopted for selection of content. We have a GDS Content Committee comprising of studio heads and senior developers with diverse experience from several game studios in India, and the selection of the speakers has been done purely on the basis of merit.We have also added a Game Expo room, we have companies doing game launches and announcements, we have a cool rock concert and graffiti artists entertaining us in the evening… it is all happening at the Game Developer Summit!” Rajesh added.
