With the overwhelming response that Pahelika: Secret Legends received in Europe and North America the team was tempted to continue the legacy of the game and started working on the sequel.

The plot of Pahelika: Revelations continues the story from Pahelika SL. At the end of the previous game, the player had taken certain actions whose effect was hinted at, but not explained in the game. In Pahelika 2, the player finds that his actions have created a catastrophic problem. Now the player has to deal with the consequences of his actions. The plot of this game also explains some of the mysteries of the previous game and Pahelika: Revelations has a branching plot, so the player will get to see different endings.

Earlier the puzzles were designed in isolation with the overall story, so sometimes we had puzzles which were good in itself, but there was no real reason why the player was solving it. This time around the puzzles are situational and driven by the game's story. Another change we have made is that we are really concentrating on the narrative this time. We are targeting about 30 locations and 8 hours of gameplay."

tl_files/gx/content/news/volume1/issue11/Pahelika03-0110.jpgIconcode is looking to expand the team size with the dawn of 2010 and are looking to hire 3D artists and game programmers. The development is still in the nascent stage and is about 25% percent complete. There are always unexpected challenges that come up during game development, if everything works out right the game is expected to release around July 2010. It will be published on Ironcode's website & all the major casual gaming portals. Ironcode also intends to sell the game on retail in India, North America & Europe.

The previous version of the game was extremely popular abroad but it was not majorly targeted at the Indian gaming audience, however as more and more localized games like Hanuman: Boy Warrior and Desi Adda: Games of India have been launched and have got good responses from the Indian gaming audience, more and more game developers from India are focusing towards localized content development. Following the lead set by these games Ironcode Software is planning to market the game in India as well as the western countries. As a matter of fact the game will also have a Hindi version to further increase the penetration of the game in India.

"Pahelika was our first game in the adventure genre. Although it was successful, it had some shortcomings, and they were pointed out by some people, including the reviewers. This time around we have addressed those shortcomings and we believe that we have a much better game as a result. We are tightening the storytelling; we have improved the game engine and upped the art resolution. Hopefully we will be able to provide gamers with a game that looks better, plays better, and is a whole lot of fun!" added Pallav.

Sequels always build up the excitement and Pahelika: Revelations is no different. The screenshots look fascinating and we hope the game production goes on smoothly. GamingXpress will keep you updated with the latest development at Ironcode Software.
