Third Video Developer Diary Released for Time of Fury

Matrix Games and Wastelands Interactive have released the third video developer diary in a series on the features and development considerations going in to their highly anticipated WWII grand strategy game, Time of Fury.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said, “As we draw nearer to Time of Fury’s release date there’s more and more reason to be excited. Check Matrix Games and the wargaming community soon for more details and inside looks at this great WWII strategy game!”

In World War II every single aspect of war was crucial: from troop movements to supply, from logistics to diplomacy, from innovation to careful use of terrain. Many games have tried to replicate the depth and complexity of this global conflict and only a few have managed to give an all around experience to players.

This is a game that truly replicates all these aspects. The developers of the highly successful Time of Wrath are back to the European theater of war with an ambitious project that allows players to truly experience what it was to be a decision maker of the period.

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Way of the Warrior - Sengoku Developer Diary

Paradox Interactive has revealed the first developer diary and five new screens as well as a video interview with Thomas Johansson, project lead for their internally developed strategy title Sengoku, due for release on PC in Q3 2011. The developer diaries will be released on a weekly basis.

From the first developer diary by Johan Andersson, producer of Segoku, “Our goal with Sengoku is to create a game where your actions matter, where you truly act like a Japanese noble in the struggle to become Shogun, with our focus on playability and easing the learning curve while still being a deep and complex Paradox game. What truly makes Sengoku unique is the free flowing way of switching alliances and conquests in contrast to the long-term build-up of your holdings and your relations. Maybe it is better to manuever for the future than to spend resources fighting now. And always remember.. "Double cross your enemies in an honorable an auspicious manner."

Read more here

In this deep character driven strategy game, you play as the head of an illustrious Samurai family. The year is 1467 and civil war has broken out. The authority of the Ashikaga Shoguns has collapsed and it is every man for himself in the provinces. Honor and duty vie with survival in the delicate dance of power, conquest and betrayal as you attempt to unite the land of the Rising Sun through a combination of deal-making with foreign powers, sending your powerful samurai armies into battle against your enemies, and unleashing shadowy Ninja clans under the cover of darkness to assassinate your rivals!

FEATURES:
- Control a noble family in Feudal Japan
- Rise in influence and power within your clan and go on to claim the ultimate prize
- Conquer and grow while rewarding your most valued retainers in your bid to become Shogun
- Detailed historical map of Japan during the warring states period
- Make deals with external powers, including the Portuguese and the Dutch
- Employ the aid of powerful Ninja clans when your Samurai armies are not enough

Behind the Scenes - Cities in Motion

Paradox Interactive have today released a new video interview with Mariina Hallikainen, CEO at developer Colossal Order Ltd and Producer on Cities in Motion, the much anticipated mass transportation simulator releasing on PC on February 22nd.

In the five and half minute video, Hallikainen describes some of the key features and gameplay elements that the development team has implemented in to the game including an underground view for the metro system, a first for a transport simulator. Another area that she says the team has worked hard on is the AI of the citizens that populate the four cities in Cities in Motion. All of them are individuals with names, a job, a place to live and they all have preferences on where they want to travel such as the golf course at the weekend, or going to the stadium to watch the match. The trick for the player is to get to know your citizens to see where they are going and to build your transportation system accordingly.

Developed by Colossal Order Ltd, Cities in Motion sees players develop and operate their own public transport company building a travel network across Vienna, Berlin, Helsinki and Amsterdam using more than 30 different modes of transport including buses, trams, subway trains and water buses. As each city develops and grows the player must continue to meet the ever changing transport needs of its commuters, while at the same time ensuring it remains as profitable as possible.

Featuring an in-depth campaign mode made up of 12 scenarios along with an open ended sandbox mode, an advanced map editor that allows players to create their own cities, plus much more, Cities in Motion will challenge players to create the perfect public transport system that has no cancellations, no delays and where the passengers are always happy!

Features:
- Explore four different cities: Vienna, Helsinki, Berlin and Amsterdam
- Engage in a campaign spread across 12 scenarios, as well as a sandbox mode where all campaign cities are playable
- Realistic 3D graphics with over 100 unique buildings
- Advanced economy simulation including contractor deals, banking, insurance and fluctuating economic trends
- Play through 100 years of transportation history across four eras between 1920 and 2020
- Use the advanced map editor to create your own cities
- Choose between over 30 different vehicles based on real-life models including buses, trams, water buses, helicopters and a subway system with underground view
- Real-time city and traffic simulation as people commute between their homes, workplace and social lives.
- Meet residents’ travel needs as seven different social groups exhibit different passenger behaviours
- Three difficulty levels – easy, medium and hard
